The Skunk family of cannabis is the one which defined the dank, gassy, skunky smell of cannabis that usually would indicate a potent quality. Skunk has been a mother to many of the most stinking strains like Super Skunk # 1, Cheese, Diesel or Chemdog. Its popularity started thanks to one of the oldest and most respected seedbanks in Holland- Sensi Seeds with their 1990’s Skunk#1/Super Skunk #1 lines of seeds.
The Skunk strains are full blown hybrids which are full of stinking terpenes that produce very intoxicating effect and the smell that can linger for hours around your house if not properly sealed. That’s why back in the 1980s and 1990s when the Skunk strains had been introduced to the growers, they caused quite a havoc, since the activated charcoal filter systems were not yet been popularized, so the growers cultivating Skunk strains had to be very careful with their growing operation’s safety when it comes to the smell control. Very often even a couple of plants in a poorly isolated growing facility would make the whole neighborhood figure out that there must be cannabis being grown somewhere around the corner. For many years after many people would not decide to grow those strains anymore, and switched into more fruity, floral, and less potent skunk, gassy smelling cultivars like Blueberry or Purple strains.
Thankfully nowadays we do not have to worry about the smell of our plants inside, since the activated charcoal filters are a standard unit in your grow tent. Growing a Skunk today is therefore not a problem.
Our Crimson Skunk is a phenotype that has gotten its genetics from a Master Skunk (a phenotype of Skunk#1) male and a an Oaxacan Sativa mother. The latter is one of the most potent landrace sativa cultivars originating from Mexico. This strain is for all the “stinking weed” enthousiasts.
Flowering time and appearance:
The flowering time of Crimson Skunk indoors is 9 to 10 weeks. Outdoors you can harvest her skunk buds in the beginning of October. She thrives well in sunny climates like the Mediterranean. When grown in colder climates we advise growers to place her in a greenhouse to protect her against the cold and rainy weather. Crimson Skunk is a very strong and stable cannabis plant with a thick stem and huge buds covering the plant. The very solid buds are covered with shiny crystals.
Yield indoor and outdoor:
You can harvest between 425 to 500 grams per plant when grown indoors. With a little care and a good fertilizer schedule you can increase her harvest. When you place her outdoors you can harvest between 400 to 700 grams per plant. In colder climates you need to protect her against humidity.
Effect + THC + CBD:
The sativa genetics ensures the user a mild head high. The indica genetics will give the user a nice body stoned feeling. Crimson Skunk has a high THC level and a low CBD value.
Taste and odor:
Crimson Skunk has a distinctive pungent skunk flavor with a mild citrus aftertaste.
